Microfabrica is an advanced technology company and the world leader in 3D micro-scale additive manufacturing, providing the only high volume, micro-scale, additive manufacturing platform on the market that yields complex metal structures and assemblies at a scale not previously possible.
Under the direction of the Production Shift supervision, and working with the Production Shift Lead Technician, the Fab Operator 1 is responsible for manufacturing proprietary, designed products using MEMS technology. Overall, this entails operation of photolithography, dry etching, electroplating, lapping, polishing, measurement, inspection, wafer cleaning and etching. The position also entails waste handling duties, which require the ability to follow directions, to work safely in a closed space while handling caustic materials, and to work safely with glass and other equipment.
Production and Manufacturing:
---Manufactures proprietary, designed products using MEMS technology
---Using computer-controlled technology, and working with microscopes, operates photolithography, plasma dry etching, electroplating, lapping, polishing, measurement and inspecting, wafer cleaning and etching
---Follows documented procedures and captures data and results in putting them into the applicable database
---Assists the Engineering Department in identifying and trouble-shooting issues; documents processes
---Properly wears safety attire at all times, and is responsible to know and follow all standard operating procedures
Waste Handling Duties
---Works with and is responsible for the safe handling of solid and liquid waste, which is often caustic
---Works with and is responsible for the safe handling of micro and macro tools, glass and other manipulative materials both in a stationery position and while walking
---Works in close proximity of other fab personnel, requiring dexterity and the ability to move safely throughout the work area
---Inspects and inventories site-generated hazardous waste staging areas
---Assists in the transfer of site-generated hazardous waste stating areas
---Directs storage of site-generated hazardous waste on-site staging areas
---Conducts inspections of Satellite Accumulation Areas
Attention to detail
Dexterity: must be able to handle small parts under a microscope, take measurements using standard microscopes and enter data using standard PCs
Ability to follow instructions and to work in a collaborative environment
Ability to follow all safety and workplace standards and procedures
Ability to identify and document possible process improvements, and to alter equipment to carry out proposed solutions
Flexibility with work and the ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to work overtime, as needed
High school diploma or equivalent
Two years college education preferred
Previous work experience in Semiconductor/MEMS manufacturing environment
Proven ability to pass Microfabrica’s skill-based testing
