ASSOCIATE DESIGN ENGINEER

Description

Microfabrica is looking for a creative and self-motivated engineer for role of Associate Design Engineer. As part of the Design Engineering team, this position supports customer-driven projects by interfacing with customers, creating design layouts, and working with Process and Production teams to enable fabrication of parts using MICA Freeform Technology. Further, this position engages in internal R&D projects to conceptualize and develop new products that leverage Microfabrica’s unique capabilities.

Responsibilities

This position supports production, R&D and process improvement efforts by interfacing with our customers, offering support, manage customer projects and optimize customer design while supporting process and procedures required for the manufacturing of products created with Microfabrica’s unique Mica Freeform technology.

The candidate filling this position will:

Interface with customers

Determine application requirements

Optimize customer design

Provide customer support

Manage customer projects internally

Work with process engineering teams to understand and communicate design rules

Create design layouts and interface with the production team for manufacturing hand-off

Write technical reports for customers

Conceptualize and design new products for internal R&D projects

Education & Training

BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics

MS strongly preferred

Preferred Experience

1-3 years in Design and Simulation

Experience in MEMS design is a plus

Requirements

Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and presentation

Ability to work closely with cross functional teams

Demonstrated creative problem solving skills

Strong knowledge base in Mechanical Engineering (Design and Analysis)

Proficient in Design and Simulation software (SolidWorks, SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS, familiarity with LEdit is a plus)
